To all my Biloxi/New Orleans/inland Mississippi people

In all seriousness, I am making myself available as an evacuation destination. If you need a place to stay for Katrina, I have a spare bedroom, an air matress, a cot, and various and sundry other places to stow people here in Georgia. If you'd like to pay me a visit for a few days, I can give you directions. Just let me know.

:sees this, blinks, remembers that she's not on the Coast, nods:

Seriously, I do hope that no one has to take you up on that.

She's a category 5 scheduled to make landfall on Biloxi. Some people had better take me up on this if they have nowhere else to go.

I can still hope. :sighs sadly: (Even if hope is irrational, it's still a part of my makeup) I do think it would be wise if they showed up at your doorstep though.

Well, a few plans seem to be coming together already. Hopefully people will be smart about this, even if they don't head my direction, and will take necessary precautions wherever they do hunker down.

*sigh* I would really my beloved city not be destroyed either, though.

Sorry I missed your call Friday, I got in the tub right after BSG went off and soaked for approximately three hours. (see also: I had a good book in there with me)

:hugs: I understand about not wanting Biloxi destroyed, more than you might think. I'm glad that people are headin' up an' movin' out at least closer to time (whenever that is, I've not been watching weather/news on the TV except a little around noon on weekdays -- and that one of the local stations. National news bothers me right now.)

:laughs: That's fine about the call, I think I went to bed early that night (or was it the night before) and had an extraordinarily weird dream. Not a bad one, just a weird one. I just wanted to keep my word about calling for I did promise to do so.

Something strange in the wind over here though and I don't know exactly what it is. Drop me an e-mail if you have some sort of idea. I'll try to call again sometime in the nearish future -- probably around Monday or Tuesday if either of those days are good for you.

all things considered, i can't imagine why anyone *wouldn't* take you up on the offer.

Well, there is the whole having to put up with me for several days thing ;) Seriously though, as a former Coastian I definitely understand the natural instinct to just shrug and say "Meh, we can ride this out." We hate evacuating. I can't guarantee that I would evacuate if I were still living down there, short of a National Guard person pulling me out of my home. Have to take Cat5 storms seriously though, especially ones that seem to be following the exact same friggin' course that Camille did.

My poor city. *sniffles, goes back to work on Project: Big Friggin' Umbrella For Biloxi*

If you haven't heard from her yet, I wanted to let you know that she's in Texas, watching all of this from a safe distance.

I hope that you, your family, and your friends are okay.
